The Sounds of Healing

I’m a strong believer that God works through music – well, any supernatural entity can work through music, but I like to focus on the positive.  I’ve been singing this song all day as I’ve run errands and gone about doing my thing today.  I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

I sat down to read a blog that a friend sent to me, and it’s definitely along similar lines, but despite everything that I’ve been going through lately – you don’t want to hear the drama, trust me – I’m finally at a good place, and so I don’t think that I’m posting this song for myself.  I don’t know if someone else needs this song, if I need it (I’ve been known to be wrong), or what the deal is, but it’s been haunting me today and when it came down to making my post for today, this is the only thing that I could think of.

So, if this helps you, or if it speaks to you, I’m thankful.

Here’s Timshel, by Mumford & Sons.  If you recall from my Steinbeck review, timshel means “thou mayest” in Hebrew, which roughly means we have free will.  Check out the lyrics below.  Enjoy!

LYRICS:

Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstep
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance

But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we’ll hold your hand
Hold your hand

And you are the mother
The mother of your baby child
The one to whom you gave life
And you have your choices
And these are what make man great
His ladder to the stars

But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we’ll hold your hand
Hold your hand

And I will tell the night
Whisper, “Lose your sight”
But I can’t move the mountains for you.

Rader on the Radar

Check out this great artist: Adam Rader.  He’s from California, but he’s a Southern boy–and we all know how good they make ‘em in the South.

Album cover from Rader's Facebook Page

If you like lyrical, alternative rock/folk tunes, check Rader out.  His easily relatable music is fantastic, and I promise you won’t be rolling your eyes at me over some off-the-wall Indie band’s experimental tunes…we all know I post those from time to time.

Seriously, though, I think you’ll love this!

Gah! Who Let Snooki Out?!?

Dear heavens!  I don’t know who the guy was that let this out of its cage:

But find him and the person who let it write a book so that the world may be spared anything else as terrifically terrible as this:

I so wish I were kidding.  Sadly, I’m not.

Oh, and it’s a novel.  A disastrously klassy novel.
