GRAMMYS!!!!!

Okay peeps, I’m sorry but I can’t post legit today.  I’m watching the Grammys!  But, I couldn’t NOT post something, so here’s my brief mid-Grammys commentary:

They’re actually letting Christina sing in public after the Super Bowl catastrophe?

Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine) tears it up.

What happened to Lady Gaga’s shoulders?  Props on the getting carried into the theatre in a random egg-like spaceship thingy.

Justin Bieber got a *bit* of a hair cut.  (thank goodness)  And how cute were Will & Jada when Jaden was rapping?!  LOVE the Smiths. :)

Oh, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh my gosh I <3 Usher.

Subtle shout-out to your baby mamma, Matthew Bellamy (Muse), known to the rest of us as Kate Hudson.

Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) looked so nervous, bless his heart!

Mumford & Sons + Avett Brothers = *bliss*

Oh, Bob.  Bob, Bob, Bob.  I think you’ve had too many years of smoking to be singing anymore.  I’m sorry.

Cee Lo looks like the love child of Big Bird and Elton John.  Also, Gwyneth needs to stick to what she does best…not dancing on pianos in Christian Loubitans.

Doesn’t anyone get that that Lady Antebellum song is about a BOOTY CALL?  I’m mean, it’s really great, but “It’s a quarter after one/I’m all alone/and I need you now?”  She just interested in one thing: boo-tay.

Okay, usually I think John Mayer’s a douche, but um…he looks pretty hot with the scruffy stuff and the long hair (oh, I’m such a sucker for hippie long-haired rocker types!!).  He’s still douchey, just a hot douche.

Nora Jones is amazeballs.  She sounds like Dolly!  She’s adorbs with her little sassy pixie cut and I could listen to her for hours.

Eminem is awesome.  I don’t care what you say.  So there.

Esper-who?  I need to check this chick out…

Those high schoolers were kinda overzealous with their music while Mr. Shue was talking.

Mick, I’m glad I got to see you a few years ago in concert.

“Freedom is just another word, for nothin’ left to lose.”

BABS!!!!!  She’s like buttah, just like buttah!

Okay, now I’m off to watch the end.

XO

6 Pictures from 6 Albums

Recently, a friend of mine sent me something on Facebook entitled “15 Albums.”  The object was to list out 15 albums that have profoundly impacted you at some point in your life.  Well, sure, this is a great exersize for anyone who is familiar with a variety of music genres, but I *know* I probably had some friends read my list and think, “Who? What? Huh?”

So, because this is my own personal little virtual doodle pad, and I can do whatever I want to do here, I figured I’d recreate a shorter version of the list here and select one song (okay, that’s REALLY hard for some of these albums) and post it for you here.  I shooting for 5, but came back with 6.  Enjoy!! ;)

1) Imagine (John Lennon) “Imagine”

2) For Emma, Forever Ago (Bon Iver) “Flume”

3) Lungs (Florence + the Machine) “You’ve Got the Love”

4) Girls and Boys (Ingrid Michaelson) “Far Away”

5) Black Holes and Revelations (Muse) “Glorious”

6) Billion Dollar Babies (Alice Cooper) “Billion Dollar Babies”

The object of the game was to name off the 15 albums in 15 minutes, without really thinking about it all too much, but these six albums were really easy to come up with.  What would be your top album/song choices?

What's that Song…?

If you’ve seen the new trailer for the Eat Pray Love movie (SQUEEEEE!!!!! ZOMYGOSH! So excited!!!!) *deep cleansing breath*, then you may be wondering what the song in the background is.

Well, in case you were wondering how hip the five-year-olds are around our pad, my five-year-old can tell you [yes, I realize I implied that said hip five-year-old is raised in a hip household...take from that what you will]. It’s Florence + the Machine’s Dog Days are Over. (One of the wee one’s…and my favorites!)

Here’s the lyrics and the song, followed by the trailer for Eat Pray Love!! And, if you like this song, then just do yourself a favor and buy her entire album: Lungs. It’s fab!

Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with her drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You cant carry it with you if you want to survive

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
Because here they come

And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had and what was left after that too, oh
Happiness hit her like a bullet in the head
Struck from a great height by someone who should know better than that

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
Because here they come

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your loving, your loving behind
You cant carry it with you if you want to survive

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
Can you hear the horses?
Because here they come

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

(Side note: How Gaga-esque is Flo’s video?!?)

Cosmic Love

How great is this stanza?

I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you.

Thank you, Florence + the Machine! (Lyrics from “Cosmic Love,” found on Lungs)
